Extras and Afterword

The end of this book is a combination of multiple ads and notes from the organizer, Makoto Tateno.

The second image in the gallery is a comic by Shio Sato about her and Ai Ushio visiting Makoto Tateno’s house. She talks about enjoying each other’s cooking, along with admiring the Marumiya 3 Way Furikake Container (the cylinder in the first panel) while Makoto stressed about finishing the doujinshi.

The page after is an ad by a familiar face, the Rose Tinted Circus Troupe!

Our Recommendations

The first of three notes from Makoto Tateno, this page is a list of song recommendations from each of the participating members. I’ve added these to the end of the playlist (or at least what I was able to find), track indicated by a number in parenthesis.

Our recommendations ♡

And so, IMAGE! was successfully published, and it’s thanks to the authors who always take care of me. However, writing the same thing every time makes it seem like you’re even more brainless than before. This time, I asked everyone for their favorite songs instead of comments. Let’s go with a medley♪

~~~
Ai Ushio: It’s a little old, but Glossy Colors THE NIGHT CLUB by Southern All Stars (52)
Akio Kobayashi: Another Game by P-MODEL and Ammonia Avenue by The Alan Parsons Project (53)
Ayako Satsuki: Jealousy’s Night by Junichi Inagaki (54)
Shio Sato: Kokichi Takada’s Shirasagi Shamisen, how refined (55)
C.P. Garlic: In The Mood by Glenn Miller, so cool (56)
Shion: The Sentinel by Judas Priest and Wanted Man by Ratt (57, 58)
Sheena Tachibana: Did you ever count the stairs you see when you turn around? by Junichi Inagaki (59)
Shio Chiba: Indian Next Door by Jun Togawa (60)
Ai Naniwa: Natural by Masatoshi Nakamura and Cab Driver by Yoshiyuki Ohsawa (61, 62)
Rio Yagizawa: Lovers’ Pavement by ALFEE (68)
I missed getting comments from Arisue Soju-chan, Kamitou Gen-chan, and DORONCO, I’m sorry!
~~~

People’s tastes are unexpectedly inconsistent. Especially for something like music, which is a conduit of sensibilities, it is interesting to see how some people find the above comments surprising, while others think, of course. It’s a little funny, isn’t it ♡. For example, it is not impossible to connect with someone through sound by making a melody and lyrics with Garma as the motif in the same way I would by making illustrations for a book expressing my infatuation with Garma. Doesn’t it seem strange when you think about it?

A long time ago, I was once blown away when Lcy-chan told me that Jun Horie had written a song called “Sayla” in the image of that Sayla Mass, but when I listened to it out of curiosity, it was a strangely sweet song. From his point of view, the calm Sayla must have had the image of a rather sentimental girl. Everyone has their own ideas and tastes. I think there are parts of this book that you can enjoy in that sense, but what do you think?

I received a lot of requests for songs. Thank you very much everyone ♡♡♡. I was able to use, “Escape” requested by Sakiko Inoue, “Do You really want to hurt me” requested by Kumiko Taniguchi, “And I’m at a loss” requested by Miki Nakahara, two songs from “LIVING IN SIDE”, “DAY BREAK” and “Selfish Night” from my old friend Emi Sonobe. Actually, I’ve lost track of who requested “New York” due to an error on my part, so please contact me if you know who it is ♡

I would like to express my gratitude to the above people for the illustrations and things you did for us ♡. And to Mizuho Sugai-san ♡, thank you very much for the two tapes with perfect background music. Everyone loves Toshi-chan ♡♡. I can’t give you anything big, but everyone, please be patient with me ♡.

Can Gundam II get us fired up?

Another note from Makoto Tateno (I assume) about her thoughts on the newly announced Gundam sequel and lots of talk about food.

Misuzusou is a home for the elderly?! Can Gundam II get us fired up?

Well, this time it was such a tranquil editing and wrap-up that you wouldn’t even think it was crunch time at G.G. (G.GRAPHITY). You’d get it if you saw Shio-chan’s Noritama Gohan. The group I got together for the wrap-up were Ai-chan, Shio Sato-chan, and Rio Yagizawa-chan, and perhaps it was because everyone was there, we started vividly talking about the old days. I thought it was strange, and then I came to the conclusion that this is probably because Gundam II was confirmed.

We’ve been called an “old people’s home” by Asakura’s Julie-kun, but if you think about it, next year will be the seventh year of Gundam, and I’m at least six years older than I used to be, so I wonder how much meaning there is in the seventh year of Gundam, aside from Sunrise’s loss prevention. I’m sure it’s partly because I think of it in a different dimension from Part I, but also Rio convinced me by saying “I’m so happy that it still seems like Gundam ♡”. Also because I’m a fan.

But it’s a bit of a complicated feeling. I wonder what name Char Aznable will have after seven years? I really am anticipating it with mixed feelings. Will the boom be revived?

By the way, thanks to Ushio-chan, my diet was rich this time ♡. The stew, miso-simmered horse mackerel, and garnishes were delicious. Rio-chan’s rice porridge was also delicious. I just cooked the rice, and Shio-chan just ate (but I’m always giving her the most draining tasks, sorry about that). I thought that the goddess of responsibility, Naniwa Ai-san, wasn’t coming this time, but it seems like Ushio-chan’s love reached her ♡. So, that very Ai-san was caught when she came to deliver the manuscript, and as a bonus, I had her draw me a cassette label. I’m sorry! After all, there is no one other than Chiba Shio-chan who can add the finishing touch. That is the tradition every time.

However, after submitting the manuscript, the two of us started to feel happy going out to eat while riding that high. UNAMAKO in winter is dangerous. I’m sorry if I don’t leave. Once again my repentance is worthless! I’m sorry I’m always being spoiled by you all ♡. I really feel it when I’m all alone after it’s all over! I’m really moved to tears. While experiencing this kind of emotional moment, I can’t help but think I want to continue doujinshi by jumping in feet first (but actually using my head).

Please keep an eye on us in 1985 as well. And with that, time for an ad. ♡

The ad on the following page is for G.GRAPHITY’s upcoming doujinshi. Here’s a look at the cover.

TAPE END

Finally, the actual afterword, written by Makoto Tateno.

TAPE END:

The volume 3 End Song of the possibly endless G.G. TAPE ♡

Well, how was it? I’m happy to be able to deliver it safely this time as well, it’s IMAGE! ♪ and ♪ are flying in my head, but more than anything, this time, I felt like I was listening to more BGM than usual. It’s starting to look like winter outside, the season where snuggling up in the kotatsu with music is especially nice. What kind of BGM did you listen to while reading IMAGE?

The authors’ recommended songs are all wonderful songs, but if I may choose a few from my own BGM. First of all, from Yoshiyuki Osawa’s album “CONFUSION”, I’ve listened to the commercial song “And I’m at a loss” for a while. I love shy songs like this. And of course, “My Classic” and “Jango in the Wall” from Takashi Sato’s LP “Men and Women”. Then from “Kimi ni W (Double) Parking” onwards, the silence is broken and the melody completely shifts. It became a melodias album with strong romanticism, with some parts similar to Kazuhiko Katou. I can’t get enough of that ennui-ness ♡.

I’ve illustrated many songs, such as “COLLECTOR” from the LP “REAL FANTASY” by Mitsutoshi Anbe, which I borrowed “SAY DARLING” from last time. This time, I recommend the song associated with the title to those who like things a bit surreal or psychedelic. Of course, “A short message from the road” by Issei Fuubi Sepia is good. They stir the Japanese spirit ♡. The festival music feeling that comes through is enchanting ♡. The LP “Good” by the sharp comedy band Bakufuu Slump really is good ♡. “Shuukan Tokyo Shoujo A” and “Bikkuri Milk” leave me speechless. “A.BOY” from Ayami Nakamura’s LP “MIDNIGHT KIDS” is pretty good ♡ etc. George Yanagi, Bread & Butter, SAS, Junichi Inagaki, Yoshitaka Minami, AB’s, Ryouhei Yamanashi, and Yuudai Suzuki etc. etc. etc.

Anyway, these are the BGMs that you can’t go without while working on drawings (at least for me). This time I intentionally thought “if this song flowed from this image…!”

I wanted to make something like “a doujinshi that plays sound”. ☆☆☆ scary! Nearly half of the songs featured in this are my selection, so it tends a bit towards my taste, but it became a brilliant IMAGE! of “Char and Garma”. There were many more songs I wanted to include, but I’ll have to gradually introduce them another time.

Anyway, this time the volume was higher than expected and included a good amount of my own work ♡. But…this book was actually planned to be B5 size around 60 pages ☆ They say things don’t always go as planned. Fortunately since I received everyone’s small contribution of 700 yen (postage included), I’m so happy I could cry. I’m sorryyy!

It’s that lack of planning that G.G. is known for. Of course it’s not compulsory, however. Either way, those who ordered are gods ♡ Oh, but of course, anyone who reads it is a god too ♡♡♡. Thank you for always sending letters ♡. I can’t often write replies, but I enjoy seeing them all ♡.

I appreciate your impressions and comments this time as well ♡. Well, see you in the next G.G. book. Please continue to support us in 1985 ♡.

1984. 11

Signed, Makoto
